Job summary

Christ House is seeking an Assistant Culinary Operations Manager to support daily kitchen operations, train and oversee volunteers, meal groups, and Kairos participants. This hands-on role also contributes to cooking, manages in-kind donations, and backs up the Culinary Operations and Innovation Manager as needed.

The position does not supervise cooks or other kitchen staff but requires strong leadership, food safety, and nonprofit kitchen experience in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• A.O.S. degree in Culinary Arts or commensurate culinary training.
• 2-4 years’ high-level kitchen experience and leadership.
• Experience supervising volunteers and community groups preferred.
• DC Health CFPM certification required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in meal preparation and cooking per menus and safety standards.
• Train, orient, and oversee volunteers and meal groups in the kitchen.
• Provide day-to-day direction to Kairos Work Program participants.
• Coordinate in-kind donations and manage related records.
• Support the Culinary Operations and Innovation Manager with planning and scheduling.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure daily kitchen operations.
