Job summary

Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity is seeking a Volunteer Engagement Specialist to connect individuals and groups with meaningful opportunities, coordinate recruitment and onboarding, and ensure an excellent volunteer experience. The role builds relationships with corporate, faith-based, and community groups, while coordinating orientations and on-site support.

The specialist works across departments, communicates proactively, and maintains volunteer records to support retention and recognition.

Qualifications

• College degree in a related field preferred; relevant education and professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Two or more years of experience in volunteer engagement, community engagement, nonprofit programming, relationship management, event coordination, customer service, or a related area preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including comfort welcoming and speaking to groups.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, onboard, schedule, and connect individual and group volunteers with construction and non-construction opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with corporate, faith-based, civic, community, school, and other volunteer groups.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned volunteers and groups with timely, welcoming communication.
• Represent the organization at volunteer fairs, community events, speaking engagements, and partner meetings.
• Coordinate orientations, registration, waivers, check-in, welcome activities, and on-site support.
• Work with Construction and other departments to understand volunteer needs and create meaningful roles.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records and engagement history in systems.
• Support volunteer communications, including announcements, reminders, and recognition.
• Coordinate volunteer logistics for events and appreciation activities.
