Job summary

KARM, Knoxville Area Rescue Mission, is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support a biblically-based ministry. The role focuses on recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, managing data, and communicating with staff, donors, and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of events and ongoing programs.

You will work under the Director of Volunteer Relations, helping shape a Christ-centered volunteer culture and ensuring effective placement at various ministry activities.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and/or equivalent experience in nonprofit volunteer work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Publisher, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to lead, organize, and communicate effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ministry activities and maintain the master calendar.
• Recruit, select, and train volunteers for designated areas.
• Support staff with training, resources, and needed tools for volunteer ministry development.
• Determine current and future volunteer needs with staff.
• Onboard new volunteers and provide orientation and tours as needed.
• Maintain accurate volunteer data and measure effectiveness.
• Assist with newsletters and communications for volunteers and staff.
• Oversee recruitment messaging and volunteer recognition strategies.
• Place volunteers at events and represent the ministry internally and externally.
