Job summary

The Night Ministry in Chicago is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, onboard, and engage volunteers across programs. The role serves as the main liaison to volunteers and supports strategic goals by building a positive volunteer experience.

You will work with internal teams to schedule trainings, ensure compliance, and keep volunteers informed through regular communications. This is a full-time, on-site role with a strong community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience recruiting, training, supporting, and stewarding volunteers.
• Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, writing and public speaking skills.
• Ability to work in a team and across diverse programs.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Comfort with data entry and volunteer databases (Timecounts).

Responsibilities

• Create and implement a community-wide volunteer outreach and recruitment plan.
• Schedule and facilitate orientation sessions for potential volunteers.
• Oversee background checks and compliance with DCFS requirements for volunteers working with minors.
• Schedule and track meal group volunteers to meet program needs.
• Coordinate opportunities for individuals and groups to support TNM’s programs.
• Maintain volunteer communications and engagement through newsletters and updates.
