Job summary

Legacy Hospice in Winchester, VA is seeking a Part-Time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, supervise, and retain volunteers. The role supports end-of-life care by coordinating volunteer services with patients and families.

This position offers flexible scheduling, with 20 hours per week, on-site work, and collaboration with the hospice team. Compensation includes health, tuition assistance, and paid time off benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one year experience as a Volunteer Coordinator in a health care setting preferred; hospice experience preferred.
  • Must be compassionate, organized, and excited to work in a fast-paced meaningful environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Must be computer proficient in typing and various programs, including background in EMR.
  • Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, interview, screen, and coordinate patient volunteers; document ongoing efforts to recruit, train, and retain volunteers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Establish volunteer service needs with patients, family/caregiver, and hospice team.
  • Arrange volunteers to provide services to patients and families as per the plan of care.
  • Supervise volunteers and evaluate performance on an annual basis.
  • Develop, grow, and oversee an active volunteer network for direct and indirect patient care activities.
  • Monitor volunteer time logs, data entry, and patient documentation for compliance and accuracy.

As a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, you will take charge of recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining volunteers, ensuring that our volunteer operations comply with company, state, and federal regulations. Your role will also involve continuous outreach to various community services and groups to promote volunteer opportunities, strengthening our ties with the community we serve

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for selecting, recruiting, training, interviewing, screening, assigning and coordinating patient volunteers. Documents ongoing efforts to recruit, train and retain volunteers of ages and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Establishes a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team.
  • Arranges volunteers to provide volunteers services to hospice patient and family/caregiver in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Supervises volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner and evaluates performance on an annual basis.
  • Develops, grows, maintains and oversees an active volunteer network for the hospice for direct and in-direct patient care activities.
  • Monitors volunteer time logs, data entry, and patient documentation to ensure compliance, accuracy and timely submissions.

$24.00 - $26.00 per hour (Average Pay Range). The pay range listed represents a general guideline for the role and is not a guarantee of the final offer. Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and the specific responsibilities of the position. Final compensation rate will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
