Position Overview:

Responsible for developing and managing the Hospice Services Volunteer Program, including the selection, training, support, and supervision of qualified volunteers to enhance patient and family care. Develop, implement, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and supervise all volunteer services for Hospice.
  • Develop policies and procedures aligned with the program’s purpose, philosophy, and objectives.
  • Recruit, screen, and select volunteers.
  • Design and oversee volunteer orientation and training, including ongoing education.
  • Document completion of training programs.
  • Assign volunteers based on skills, knowledge, motivation, and care goals.
  • Conduct volunteer support meetings.
  • Maintain records of volunteer service hours and activities.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and ensure volunteers are integrated appropriately.
  • Oversee data collection to ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of volunteers.
  • Promote the organization’s image through servant leadership and open communication.
  • Contribute to committees, projects, and collaborative efforts.
  • Perform additional duties to support the system’s success.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with volunteer groups preferred; effective communication with physicians, caregivers, patients, and families is required; public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Emotional maturity, sensitivity, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to meet health clearance and reference requirements.
  • Must be able to transport self to various locations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain professionalism.
  • Effective supervisory and planning skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, leadership, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Relations or a related field preferred.
