SCHEDULE STATUS: 24 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, some evenings and weekends

ABOUT US

Since 2013, Positive Community Kitchen (PCK) has provided nourishing meals to community members experiencing serious illnesses. Teen chefs and volunteers curate these healthy meals through the education program in our teaching kitchen, supervised by Kitchen Managers and Program Coordinators.Meals are delivered free of charge to clients throughout the Eugene/Springfield area.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing PCK’s relationship with volunteers, representing the Volunteer Program in the greater community and acting as the Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) Coordinator.

This person ensures that all volunteers are successfully brought on board, are trained and well oriented in their roles and relationships with PCK; volunteers are appreciated and feel themselves to be an integral part of the organization. This role also ensures that volunteers are informed about, and aware of, the deeper intention of PCK’s work to foster a vibrant relationship between people, food and communities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Host quarterly Volunteer Orientations.
  • Maintain prompt and accurate entry of volunteer information in the organization’s database, and ensure that PCK informational documents and forms are current and relevant.Provide reports.
  • Conduct volunteer interviews and trainings.
  • Schedule and staff appropriate kitchen, program and event volunteers.
  • Orient all volunteers to their respective positions.
  • Track the impact that volunteering for PCK has on volunteers, using various best practices.
  • Ensure that volunteers are recognized and thanked appropriately for their contributions by sending thank you cards and recognizing anniversaries of service.
  • Help maintain the relevant volunteer pages of the PCK website; ensure information is current and write the copy or coordinate writing.
  • Communicate with PCK staff to manage and secure volunteers.
  • Develop and distribute outreach information and literature to the community about volunteer opportunities with PCK.
  • Schedule and manage volunteers for certain PCK activities and specific events.
  • Manage the Youth Leadership Committee and help to plan/execute their spring fundraiser.

QUALIFICATIONS

·A commitment to Positive Community Kitchen’s Mission and Operating Principles.

·Oregon Food Handler’s Card.

·Successfully pass a background check.

·Comfortable with technology, MS Office and databases.

·Ability to demonstrate cultural competence in working with diverse populations.

·Possesses an upbeat, positive attitude, brings an empowering team spirit, a high degree of self-motivation and initiative and demonstrates integrity in the role.

·Ability and desire to be in a work environment that values working as a team, relationships and giving/receiving feedback.

·Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of groups.

·Excellent organizational management skills

·Passion for people, especially youth.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

·While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a workstation for an extended period of time; use computer equipment; talk and hear to communicate with coworkers and clients.

·Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping and climbing a footstool/ladder.

·The work environment while in the office consists of moderate noise (i.e., nonprofit setting with office equipment, conversation from adjacent coworkers).

·The work environment outside the office will vary.
