ABOUT US
Since 2013, Positive Community Kitchen (PCK) has provided nourishing meals to community members experiencing serious illnesses. Teen chefs and volunteers curate these healthy meals through the education program in our teaching kitchen, supervised by Kitchen Managers and Program Coordinators.Meals are delivered free of charge to clients throughout the Eugene/Springfield area.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing PCK’s relationship with volunteers, representing the Volunteer Program in the greater community and acting as the Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) Coordinator.
This person ensures that all volunteers are successfully brought on board, are trained and well oriented in their roles and relationships with PCK; volunteers are appreciated and feel themselves to be an integral part of the organization. This role also ensures that volunteers are informed about, and aware of, the deeper intention of PCK’s work to foster a vibrant relationship between people, food and communities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
·A commitment to Positive Community Kitchen’s Mission and Operating Principles.
·Oregon Food Handler’s Card.
·Successfully pass a background check.
·Comfortable with technology, MS Office and databases.
·Ability to demonstrate cultural competence in working with diverse populations.
·Possesses an upbeat, positive attitude, brings an empowering team spirit, a high degree of self-motivation and initiative and demonstrates integrity in the role.
·Ability and desire to be in a work environment that values working as a team, relationships and giving/receiving feedback.
·Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of groups.
·Excellent organizational management skills
·Passion for people, especially youth.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
·While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a workstation for an extended period of time; use computer equipment; talk and hear to communicate with coworkers and clients.
·Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping and climbing a footstool/ladder.
·The work environment while in the office consists of moderate noise (i.e., nonprofit setting with office equipment, conversation from adjacent coworkers).
·The work environment outside the office will vary.
