Job summary

Merrimack Valley YMCA in Lawrence, MA is seeking an entry-level, seasonal Youth Program Assistant to support healthy living and youth development goals. You will supervise activities, help plan lessons, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for participants.

You must be at least 15 years old, have strong communication skills, and be willing to attend CAP and safety trainings. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a plus, and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of age
• Commitment to personal youth development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• General knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
• Independently manage and facilitate activities for youth; management of groups includes but is not limited to: Assisting with activity supervision, Assisting lesson planning and implementation, Keeping accurate attendance documents
• Create an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of youth
• Ability to work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
• By personal example, help interpret the quality of YMCA Character Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Accept and perform all other responsibilities necessary for the organization's good as required by the supervisor (remains flexible).
