Position Details

Grade: ASTD10

Location: Allegany County, 14100 McMullen HW, SW, Cumberland, MD 21502

Position Duties
  • Plan, organize, and direct volunteer programs at NBCI.
  • Develop plans for effective operation of volunteer programs.
  • Provide advice and guidance to students and volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities, promote volunteer programs, and manage inmate organizations and programs.
  • Coordinate special events, fundraising, and community outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, including sexual harassment policies.
  • Prepare reports, conduct meetings, and maintain records related to volunteer activities.
  • Prepare volunteers for work in correctional settings, including background checks and orientations.
  • Manage waiting lists, pass lists, and coordinate volunteer activities.
Minimum Qualifications

Six years of experience in planning, coordinating, and evaluating volunteer activities in a state facility, institution, or community-based program. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework and two years of experience, or graduate education for experience as specified.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland.
  • Optional: CPR certification.
Additional Requirements

Must provide a reachable telephone number and may be required to complete training and maintain certification.
