Job summary

Axelon Services Corporation in Fremont, CA is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design, program, install, startup and troubleshoot automated industrial control systems for chemical plants using DCS, PLC and SCADA. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in chemical plant control systems.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/DCS programming for chemical plants.
• Experience with process control hardware and software standards.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens, Rockwell, and Emerson automation tools.
• Ability to develop electrical schematics and ethernet-based networks.

• Develop, implement, and support plant control system hardware, software, and field instrumentation safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot control system hardware and software and implement corrective actions independently.
• Participate in Design Reviews and PHAs as a team member or leader.

• Work with highly hazardous chemicals at a manufacturing facility.
• Establish engineering design basis and assist with design documentation for new and existing facilities.
• Assist with loop tests and interlock tests for new processes and yearly ISO testing.
• Complete all assigned trainings and tasks successfully.
• Understand electrical distribution and power loading in industrial control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including programming PLC/DCS for chemical plant design and operation.
• Knowledge and experience in instrument engineering.
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards for process control hardware and software.
• Experience with Siemens automation systems hardware and TIA Portal software.
• Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix hardware and software.
• Experience with Emerson Proficy HMIs.
• Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics.
• Experience with developing and deploying ethernet-based industrial networks.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AVEVA Intouch HMI and Historian.
• Experience with AVEVA System Platform.
• Experience in a rapid-growth environment.
• Trained in standard procedures for safe gas and chemical handling.
• Chemical plant operation experience strongly preferred.
