Job summary

Verizon in Cary, NC seeks a VoIP Support Engineer to join our voice repair operations. You will troubleshoot end-to-end across voice products, IP networks, and signaling, analyzing SIP/RTP call flows and packet captures while coordinating with customers and peers.

Hybrid role: three days in the office, two from home. Requires 3+ years in VoIP support, an Associate's degree (or 4+ years experience), and familiarity with Wireshark, SIP ladder diagrams, SS7, and router gear (Adtran/Cisco).

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in voice and VoIP support engineering.
Experience troubleshooting complex voice and VoIP issues.
Experience with Wireshark and SIP ladder diagrams.
Ability to work with customers to understand issues and provide updates.
Associate's degree or 4+ years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

End-to-end trouble isolation and repair for voice products across CPE, LAN, WAN and PSTN.
Troubleshoot quality, routing, interoperability and connectivity on networks.
Troubleshoot OSI layers to identify root causes.
Collaborate with customers and other network/app teams for resolutions.
Understand network topologies and workflows for effective fixes.
Work with SS7 signaling and SIP/RTP call flows.
Review call records using various diagnostic tools.
Keep up-to-date with evolving telecom technology.
