Job summary

The Arc Southern Chesapeake is seeking a Vocational Support Professional to provide onsite instruction and support to people with developmental or intellectual disabilities. You’ll work as part of a team, helping individuals meet employment goals and build natural supports in community settings.

Responsibilities include facilitating task analyses, maintaining records, ensuring safety and confidentiality, and promoting advocacy and independent decision making for the people served.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited high school or GED.
• 2 years of competitive employment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated knowledge about the formal and informal supports available in his or her community to assist people receiving supports to identify and access these supports.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to meet employment goals by teaching skills, providing supports, and building on strengths.
• Support individuals in developing friendships and relationships in employment and recreational settings.
• Provide on-site skill instruction and job training while fostering natural supports.
