Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts in San Jose, CA seeks an NCLEX Coordinator for the Vocational Nursing program. This full-time on-campus role supports NCLEX prep through guided review of exam-style questions and collaboration with program leadership and faculty.

The successful candidate will have an RN license in CA, a 4-year degree or higher, and at least 3 years of direct patient care experience, contributing to a high-quality nursing education experience.

Qualifications

• Current and unencumbered RN license in California.
• Bachelor's or master's degree that includes nursing-related coursework as defined by CCR 1425(d).
• Three years of continuous RN direct patient care within the last five years.

We are currently seeking an NCLEX Coordinator, Vocational Nursing, Full-time for our San Jose, CA Campus. This is an on-campus position at our San Jose, Gurnick Campus.

Basic Function

The NCLEX Coordinator position requires a working knowledge of delivering excellent classroom experiences through a guided review of application/analysis level exam-style questions to prepare students for the NCLEX examination. Knowledge of the mission and philosophy of the school of nursing is important. The position requires a collaborative partnership with the Vocational Nursing Program Leadership, Staff. and Faculty.

Essential Job Duties

5. 5. Stay current and compliant to enforce school policies
6. 6. Provide tips on test-taking and study-habit best practices to the students.
7. 7. Demonstrate the ability to learn and retain knowledge related to all aspects of the NCLEX test item writing, test format, test taking strategies and latest in NCLEX test plan changes.
8. 8. Motivate and engage students to participate in NCLEX preparation tools.
9. 9. Maintain communication with students to monitor NCLEX preparation progress.
10. 10. Monitor student progress in NCLEX preparation assignments.
11. 11. Monitor, track, and report students status after completing NCLEX preparatory assignments/course and follow up on NCLEX testing readiness.
12. 12. Actively monitor and document individual student progress and collaborate with remediation assignments and direction as needed.
13. 13. Evaluate the students academic progress and provide periodic feedback to the VN Program Coordinator.
14. 14. Develop plans for improvement for those students who have received low passing exam grades to improve academic performance.
15. 15. Participate in the evaluation, goal setting processes, and periodic updates on goal acquisition of the nursing program.
16. 16. Stay current and compliant to enforce school policies.
17. 17. Assist with the selection of teaching resources and other teaching aids as appropriate.
18. 18. Demonstrate effective and thoughtful integration of current technologies related to NCLEX testing style, evolving case studies, electronic health record.
19. 19. Supervise study and learning activities through assignments, interactive learning strategies, and recommend tutoring when appropriate.
20. 20. Ensure student advising is completed and submitted to student services.
21. 21. Collaborate with the program leader on communication alerts and responses related to monitoring active students and graduates on updates related to the program on NCLEX preparation test dates.
22. 22. Participating in regularly scheduled faculty meetings as requested by the Program Coordinator.
23. 23. Participating in “in-service” training sessions and seminars in order to improve teaching styles and techniques.
24. 24. Participates in faculty meetings, committee meetings, and activities to support the mission and goals of the Vocational Nursing Program
25. 25. Participate in the annual evaluation and goal setting processes and periodic updates on goal acquisition with the Program Coordinator
26. 26. Collaborate with VN Coordinator on projects as needed.

Qualifications: Requirements

• Current and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the state of California
• A baccalaureate degree or master’s degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, natural, behavioral or social sciences relevant to nursing practice as defined in CCR Section 1425(d)
• Three year’s continuous experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care within the last five years
