Job summary

CoreCivic seeks a Vocational Instructor to deliver instructional services in an institutional setting. The role covers vocational trades such as business, computers, carpentry, plumbing and related subjects to inmates/students, with emphasis on meeting curriculum standards and contract requirements.

The instructor prepares objectives, plans individualized study programs, uses varied teaching materials, and evaluates student progress while maintaining essential agency credentials and a valid

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  • Three years of full-time wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or as a certified instructor.
  • Certification and/or license as required by contract/state of employment.
  • Ability to give clear instructions in the trade.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Bachelor's degree can substitute for experience for Computers/Horticulture.
  • Minimum age of 18.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare course objectives following curriculum standards and requirements by contract.
  • Plan and document a program of study that meets students' needs and abilities.
  • Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisual aids and other materials; evaluate students' performance and issue progress reports.
