Job summary

People Encouraging People in Glen Burnie and Rockville is seeking a Vocational Specialist to coordinate vocational assessment, development, and placement for clients on the ACT Team. You will educate candidates and staff about Vocational Services, funding sources, and employment resources.

Responsibilities include reviewing referrals, providing job coaching, evaluations, and work adjustment training; attending staff meetings; completing progress notes, ITPs, and DORS billing; assisting with

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Vocational Rehab or other Human Services field preferred.
• Two years experience in vocational services/mental health field.
• One to two years supervisory experience.
• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Excellent written and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review referrals and assess candidates for vocational services.
• Provide Job Coaching, Vocational Evaluations and Work Adjustment Training.
• Attend daily staff meetings to address clients’ vocational needs.
• Complete progress notes, ITPs, weekly activity and schedule sheets, vocational sheets, evaluations, and DORS billing.
• Assist clients with obtaining required documents (SS Card, ID, etc).
• Provide individual vocational-supportive counseling and establish vocational goals.
• Identify barriers related to mental health and develop strategies to overcome them.
• Prepare clients for work (grooming, interviewing, clothing, wake-up calls, transportation).
• Teach job seeking skills and hold client groups on vocational support and advancement.
• Establish relationships with employers to create job opportunities; maintain DORS funding relations.
• Provide benefits counseling and ensure financial viability and insurance for treatment.
• Coordinate and monitor treatment team activities and develop/update treatment goals and plans.
