Job summary

Our client, a leading retail company, is seeking a VMware Engineer to join their team. This contractor will support the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of VMware-based virtualization environments, with a focus on maintaining stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure.

Location: Irving, TX onsite. The role requires 5+ years of hands-on VMware experience, VCP/VCAP, and scripting skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience administering production VMware environments.
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Solid understanding of Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience with HA/DRS/vMotion and high-availability production environments.
• VMware certification such as VCP/VCAP.
• Scripting or automation with PowerShell/PowerCLI/Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and optimize VMware environments (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter).
• Provide day-to-day operational support, monitoring, and troubleshooting for virtual infrastructure.
• Execute platform upgrades, patches, migrations, and maintenance activities.
• Configure and maintain HA, DRS, vMotion, and Fault Tolerance.
• Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and infra availability improvements.
• Collaborate with storage, network, security, and server teams for integrated solutions.
• Support backup and disaster recovery platforms (SRM, Veeam, Commvault).

Job Summary

Contract Details

Contract Work Location: Irving, TX

Core Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and optimize VMware environments, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
• Provide day-to-day operational support, monitoring, and troubleshooting for virtual infrastructure
• Execute VMware platform upgrades, patches, migrations, and maintenance activities
• Configure and maintain high-availability technologies, including HA, DRS, vMotion, and Fault Tolerance
• Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure availability improvements
• Collaborate with storage, network, security, and server teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions
• Support backup and disaster recovery solutions, including VMware SRM, Veeam, Commvault, or similar technologies

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• 5+ years of hands-on experience administering production VMware virtualization environments
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
• Solid understanding of Windows and Linux server environments
• Working knowledge of enterprise SAN/NAS storage and networking concepts, including VLANs, NIC teaming, DNS, and TCP/IP
• Experience supporting high-availability production environments and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues under time constraints
• VMware certification such as VCP or VCAP
• Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, or similar technologies

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience with cloud or hybrid virtualization environments, including Azure VMware Solution or AWS
• Experience with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), Veeam, Commvault, or similar backup and disaster recovery platforms
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management tools
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code concepts and automation practices
• Prior experience working in large enterprise or regulated environment
• Experience with infrastructure architecture, migrations, and modernization projects
• Experience supporting retail, convenience retail, fuel operations, or supply chain environments

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $34.00 and $49.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
