Job summary

Mercer University School of Medicine in Columbus, GA is seeking a Vivarium and Research Lab Manager to oversee the Columbus vivarium and research labs. The role includes animal husbandry, regulatory reporting, SOP maintenance, and collaboration with veterinary staff and department leadership.

The candidate will ensure adherence to IACUC, OLAW, and USDA requirements, supervise procedures, and assist with equipment maintenance and supply planning on the Columbus campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or related field; five years of lab experience with animals.
• Master's degree with two years of the same experience will be considered.
• Knowledge of IACUC, OLAW, and USDA regulations as they apply to a laboratory vivarium.

Responsibilities

• Manage all activities within the animal vivarium on the Columbus campus.
• Ensure reporting for IACUC, OLAW, and USDA oversight.
• Create, maintain, and enforce SOPs and protocols for vivarium and lab.
• Coordinate with veterinarian and facility managers.
• Monitor equipment usage and assist in budgeting equipment needs.
