Qualifications

• Trade school graduate or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in operation or management of building and equipment systems; vivarium equipment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems; ability to read technical sketches/diagrams; basic plumbing and electrical terms.

Responsibilities

• Direct work order and project management in the animal research facilities.
• Develop and implement a work order tracking program to address deficiencies.
• Coordinate a preventive maintenance program for vivarium equipment.
• Oversee pest monitoring and control.
• Ensure environmental and equipment monitoring systems are validated.
• Manage projects and coordinate with UMMS personnel and external contractors.
• Communicate with faculty and staff to provide high-quality animal care services.
• Perform routine rounds of animal facilities.
• Provide training documentation for animal care staff.
• Assist with annual budget development.
• Manage resources and inventory as needed.
• Document regulatory compliance accurately.
• Ensure compliance with policies and laws governing use of research animals.
• Perform husbandry duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
