Job Description

The ViTALS Courier is responsible for completing the assigned courier route on a daily basis. This route typically includes veterinary clinics located between Blacksburg and the Roanoke Valley, as well as surrounding areas such as Radford, Dublin, and Pulaski, before returning to Blacksburg. Key responsibilities include transporting laboratory samples and supplies, maintaining effective communication with veterinary clinics, and coordinating routine maintenance for the state vehicle.

As needed, the courier will also assist with miscellaneous duties in the receiving area, such as restocking supplies, assembling shipping boxes, and supporting general operational needs.

Required Qualifications

• Reliable and punctual, with the ability to consistently meet scheduled pick-ups and deliveries.
• Courteous and professional in interactions with clients at pick-up locations.
• Flexible and able to respond appropriately to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic delays or changes at pick-up points.
• Must meet all university requirements for operating state vehicles and comply with all related university policies.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively prioritize tasks, and anticipate departmental needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to safely lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

Previous driving/courier service experience, familiarity with the New River and Roanoke Valley areas.
