Job summary

Generations is seeking a Vitality Director to elevate residents' lives by creating evidence-based wellness activities addressing mind, body, and spirit. You will implement programs that align with our mission and values, and work closely with staff to foster a culture of well-being.

Responsibilities include developing and managing calendars, budgeting, supervising Vitality staff, and collaborating with leadership to engage the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in therapeutic recreation, health education or activity professional program preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in activities and/or wellness for older adults in a supervisory role.
  • Current CPR certification, or to be completed within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Generations' mission, vision, and values in daily work.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based activities addressing physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of residents.
  • Plan special events as part of a comprehensive Vitality program.
  • Lead Vitality staffing and scheduling to include evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinate Vitality calendars, schedules, and newsletters.
  • Assist the Senior Executive Director with Vitality action plans and reporting.
  • Participate in sales outreach with Sales and Marketing about Vitality to prospective residents and community.
  • Maintain Vitality budget and inventory; ensure safety and cleanliness of Vitality areas.
  • Provide supervision and coaching for Vitality staff; conduct performance reviews.
  • Attend leadership meetings and off-site trainings as requested.

Job description

The Vitality Director enhances the lives of our residents and staff through creating opportunities that enrich mind, body, and spirit. Responsible for meeting all Generations Vitality program standards. Communicates the Vitality philosophy and the benefits of participating to staff and residents both verbally and by example. Incorporates Generations' Mission, Vision, and Values into their daily work and interactions with others.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Know, understand and demonstrate the mission, vision and values of Generations.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based activity and wellness programs to address the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual needs of the residents. Includes planning of special events as part of a comprehensive Vitality program for all residents of the community.
  • Focus on enhancing lives of staff members through Vitality moments and activities that include all aspects of wellness.
  • Assist the Senior Executive Director in carrying out assigned action plans of the Vitality program. Complete all assigned tasks accurately and on time. Keep Senior Executive Director well-informed regularly regarding any issues or concerns.
  • Participate in sales process with Sales and Marketing team through Vitality program outreach and communication with prospective residents and the surrounding community.
  • Responsible for with Vitality portion of Quality Enhancement audit preparation, completion, and correction as directed.
  • Accountable for organization, inventory, safety and cleanliness of all Vitality areas, including all equipment and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain an on-going relationship with the residents and staff through consistent and authentic communication. Request feedback from residents and staff regarding Vitality programming via surveys and utilize information to develop person-centered activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining the monthly Vitality budget which may include reporting, approval process and decision making. Demonstrate good stewardship in use of supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for Vitality staffing and scheduling to ensure that Vitality activities are offered in evenings and on weekends. Adjust work schedule as required to lead special events and activities, and to support the needs of the residents.
  • Maintain professional personal appearance and adhere to dress code as outlined in the employee manual or as specified by the Executive Director. Ensure that all Vitality staff, contractors and volunteers maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Develop and ensure distribution of Vitality calendars, schedules and newsletters. Coordinate with all staff with clear communication regarding Vitality activities.
  • Adhere to and support established HR policies and procedures. Assist the Senior Executive Director as needed in recruitment, orientation, and training of Vitality staff, independent contractors, volunteers and support personnel.
  • Provide supervision and coaching for Vitality staff. Complete performance reviews for Vitality staff. Provide support to other Generations communities if requested by Senior Executive Director.
  • Attend leadership meetings and off-site trainings as requested by the Senior Executive Director.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
Qualifications And Skills Required
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in therapeutic recreation, health education or activity professional program preferred.

Supervision
