Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking a Records Technician to serve as Deputy Registrar for the Vital Statistics program. You will issue, edit, register, and certify vital records, manage daily birth/death/marriage/divorce processing, and ensure accuracy and secure document handling.

Responsibilities include data entry in HMS, payment processing, customer service at clinics, appointment scheduling, and supporting medical records tasks while maintaining compliance and state retention policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years professional experience in a customer service role.
• At least 1 year professional experience in an office/medical setting.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify birth, death, and fetal death certificates.
• Issue certified copies and supervise sub-registrars and staff.
• Manage HMS data entry, appointments, and client inquiries.
• Handle payments and balance cash drawer daily.
• Maintain filing, retention schedules, and safety paper ordering.
• Provide public service and respond to inquiries.
