Qualifications

• Requires Arizona Department of Education Visually Impaired Special Education Teaching Certificate or Endorsement.
• Requires Arizona Identity Verified Prints (AZ IVP FPCC) Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter per state law and district procedures.
• Teach braille reading/writing and related skills to students with visual impairments.
• Utilize assistive tech (text-to-speech, screen magnification, braille notetakers) in instruction.
• Assess student progress to develop IEPs including Learning Media Assessments and CVI scales.
• Adapt materials (braille, large print, tactile models) for each student.
• Maintain IEPs and related records in the district system.
• Establish rapport with students, staff, and families; ensure safe, engaging learning environments.
