Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Valid Texas certificate in visually impaired field.
  • Ability to work effectively with school and community.
  • Experience in providing instruction to visually impaired students.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to local, state and federal guidelines in the delivery of services to visually impaired students.
  • Assist in appropriate areas of assessment and evaluation.
  • Assist in interpretation of data.
  • Develop educational programs for eligible visually impaired students.
  • Complete required local, state and federal forms for visually impaired students.
  • Assist in general education and/or special education classes when appropriate.
  • Communicate regularly with general education, special education and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.
  • Assist in maintaining audit folders of visually impaired students.
  • Attend ARD-IEP meetings for students with visual impairments.
  • Maintain current in the field of visual impairments and participate in workshops/trainings.
  • Maintain district travel records and complete documentation on time.
