Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant- Visually Impaired Classroom TA for the 26-27 school year in Charlotte, NC. The role involves assisting the lead teacher, supporting EC students toward their IEP goals, and providing access to general education as needed.

The assistant will work under supervision, supervise in various school settings, and collaborate on instructional delivery, assessments, and progress documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher education equivalent is required.
• Must pass WorkKeys and complete 96 hours of in-service training.
• Completion of the NC DOL Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
• Support teacher in planning, data collection, and progress toward IEP goals.
• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays for assigned classroom.
• Assist with attendance procedures, record keeping, and organizing learning spaces.
• Provide physical assistance and supervision during drills, field trips, and related activities.
• Follow directives from teachers and school policies in daily operations.
