Overview

As a Visual Merchandising Specialist at Wayfair, you'll be the creative force behind our in‑store presentations, translating seasonal strategies and brand standards into inspiring, shoppable spaces. You’ll support floorsets, signage, merchandise flow, and visual operations that elevate the guest experience and drive business results. Whether you're adjusting displays based on sales trends or jumping in to troubleshoot a layout mid‑shift, you bring flexibility, precision, and a collaborative spirit to everything you do. Reporting to the Department Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping what Wayfair looks like today and help build the visual playbook that will guide our stores tomorrow. If you’re hands‑on, detail‑obsessed, and love solving creative challenges in a fast‑paced setting, this is your chance to make a visible impact every day.

What Does a Visual Merchandising Specialist Do?

  • Execute Visual Standards: Own visual execution across the store, including seasonal floorsets, marketing signage, lighting displays, and occasional basic installations like wallpapering or electrical updates - always aligned with Wayfair’s brand standards.

  • Collaborate Across Departments: Partner with leaders and team members to ensure visual priorities are aligned, well‑executed, and adapted to sell‑through or sales trends as needed.

  • Maintain Presentation Excellence: Conduct daily and weekly walk‑throughs using the Visual Merchandising Checklist to assess and improve store presentation with a sharp, strategic eye.

  • Demonstrate Reliability: Your consistency matters—showing up on time and ready to go ensures our guests receive an experience that’s seamless from open to close. If challenges come up, proactive communication is key.

  • Adapt with Agility: Move with urgency when things shift. Whether it’s a product launch or pivoting visual priorities, you stay calm, focused, and ready to execute.

  • Drive Sales Through Visual Impact: Use product knowledge, judgment, and trend insights to make display decisions that enhance the guest experience and support sales.

  • Innovate and Share Ideas: You’re always thinking creatively—whether suggesting ways to improve display flow or introducing new styling ideas to help our customers envision the possibilities.

  • Embrace Feedback: Take direction from store leaders and visual managers in stride and translate feedback into polished, brand‑right execution.

  • Engage Customers: Interact with guests when needed to support a friendly, helpful, and visually inspiring shopping experience that reflects Wayfair’s commitment to service.

  • Thrive in a Fast‑Paced Environment: Work efficiently with changing priorities, new promotions, and evolving product assortments while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Operate as “One Team”: You will support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross‑training across key store functions, including sales and back‑of‑house operations. You'll flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs and peak business periods.
