Job summary

Medix™ in Houston, TX seeks a Visual Inspection Specialist to perform and support visual inspection of compounded sterile pharmaceuticals per SOPs and specifications. You will ensure product quality and documentation accuracy within a regulated environment.

You will act as the process owner for the Visual Inspection Program, maintaining defect classifications and batch reporting. Strong attention to detail and knowledge of cGMP/GDP are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated environments is preferred.
• Knowledge of cGMP and GDP is required.

Job description

• Perform and support visual inspection of compounded sterile pharmaceutical products according to approved SOPs, specifications, and inspection procedures.
• Inspect finished products for visible particulates and product or container-closure defects, including fibers, cosmetic defects, cracked or damaged vials, stopper defects, seal/crimp defects, fill-volume abnormalities, discoloration, and labeling or presentation issues.

Visual Inspection Program Ownership

• Serve as the process owner and primary SME for the facility's Visual Inspection Program.
• Establish and maintain visual inspection reject-rate calculations and reporting by batch, product, defect type, and other relevant categories.
• Develop and maintain standardized defect categories and classifications, including Critical, Major, and Minor defects.
• Create, maintain, and periodically review a controlled defect library containing representative examples and/or photographs of known defects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, sterile compounding, visual inspection, packaging, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or another regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of cGMP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently identify, classify, and document product defects.
• Ability to perform basic data analysis and maintain accurate inspection records.
