Job summary

TheraPeds Partners is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026-2027 school year in Elgin, Illinois. This on-site, full-time role supports PreK-12 students with visual impairments, offering guaranteed hours and a manageable caseload.

You will provide direct and consultative TVI services, develop IEP goals, conduct functional vision assessments, and support ECC, Braille, and assistive technology. Collaboration with families and school teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Active or eligible New Hampshire educator certification/endorsement for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, accessible materials, and the Expanded Core Curriculum
• Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired
• Knowledge of IEPs, evaluations, eligibility, and special education services
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative TVI services
• Develop and implement IEP goals and specialized instruction
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Support ECC skills within the Expanded Core Curriculum
• Provide instruction in Braille and tactile learning when appropriate
• Adapt instructional materials and recommend accommodations
• Support assistive technology and accessible materials
• Monitor student progress and complete required documentation
• Participate in evaluations, IEPs, eligibility, and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Collaborate with families, teachers, O&M specialists, therapists, and special education teams
• Consult with school staff regarding visual access, classroom modifications, and instructional strategies
• Support transition and independence skills based on individual student needs
