National Tropical Botanical Garden in Miami seeks a Visitor Program Associate to host guests at The Kampong. You will handle admissions, reservations, retail operations, memberships, tours, and events, delivering exceptional service and maintaining a welcoming environment.
The role includes cash handling, POS use, inventory support, and assisting with special events and daily shop tasks. A high school diploma or GED is required; bilingual skills are a plus.
The Visitor Program Associate serves as a primary point of contact for visitors and supports daily visitor services at The Kampong, including admissions, reservations, retail operations, membership sales, tours, and events. The position provides exceptional guest service by welcoming visitors, providing accurate and thorough information, assisting with membership sales, and helping maintain a clean, welcoming, and productive environment.
The Visitor Program Associate also performs point-of-sale functions, including processing cash, vouchers, credit card, and online payments, while ensuring transactions are accurate, courteous, and timely. Retail responsibilities include maintaining clean, neat, and appealing merchandise displays; unpacking and pricing deliveries; assisting with opening and closing cash drawers; and supporting inventory counts. The position may also assist with other duties, projects, and visitor program activities as assigned.
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) certificate; or one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with students, visitors, volunteers, employees, managers, and other members of the public. Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly Spanish or Haitian Creole, are preferred.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, with our without the use of a calculator or other appropriate tools
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving multiple variables such as capacity limits,party size, reservations, visitor needs, and daily operational challenges, and apply established procedures to resolve routine issues.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods, communicate verbally, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle merchandise, cash, equipment, and other materials, and to reach with hands and arms. Vision requirements include the ability to read computer screens, receipts, printed materials, signage, and other materials associated with the position. This position occasionally requires employee to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor garden environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight. The noise level is generally moderate but may increase during special events, peak visitation periods, or other Garden activities.
