Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Institute for Contemporary Art is seeking friendly, motivated Visitor Experience Associates to create welcoming, safe, and enriching experiences for visitors. You will handle opening/closing duties, assist with ticketing and memberships, and support programs and tours.

Ideal candidates will have excellent communication, a background in customer service or hospitality, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; some college or museum experience may help.
• Experience in customer service, hospitality, or cultural institutions is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the museum at opening hours and perform pre-opening checks.
• Assist with ticketing, membership sign-ups, and event check-ins using POS systems.
• Lead guided tours and workshops to engage visitors with ICA exhibitions.
• Document incidents and maintenance reports according to team protocols.
• Support daily museum operations and ensure welcoming, safe visitor experiences.
