Job summary

Lafayette College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry. The appointment is non-tenure-track and ideally starts January 2027 through the 2027-2028 academic year. Teaching will emphasize introductory chemistry with potential courses in organic chemistry or biochemistry depending on expertise and departmental needs.

The teaching load is three lecture courses each semester; two three-hour labs count as one course. Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree strongly preferred
• ABD candidates will be considered
• Prior teaching experience preferred
• Mentoring students on research projects (optional)

Responsibilities

• Teach three lecture courses each semester (general chemistry focus; possible organic/biochemistry based on expertise and needs).
• Laboratory instruction complements lectures; mentoring opportunities for undergraduates on research projects when available.
