Job summary

The Salvation Army- Syracuse Area Services is seeking a Visitation Coach to provide supervised visits for families in foster care and support successful court-ordered interactions. You will assess family dynamics and contribute to reunification goals while maintaining a safe, supportive environment.

The role requires arranging visits, documenting progress, and collaborating with professionals and agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in child welfare and/or child development preferred.
• 3–5 years or related experience in social work.
• Strong background in family systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and document visits between foster children and biological parents, providing feedback on interactions.
• Conduct comprehensive client intakes and evaluations to inform reunification plans and referrals.
• Complete assessments, case plans, narratives, and reports within mandated timeframes.
• Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, supervision, and training.
• Collaborate with public and private agencies while representing The Salvation Army and Child Welfare Services.
• Maintain an active caseload of 10–12 assessment and coaching cases.
• Assist with training interns, students, and new staff, showing cultural competence.
