Job summary

Catawba County Social Services is seeking a compassionate Visitation Coach to support families pursuing reunification. You will coach parents during supervised visits, provide transportation to visits and services, and perform case management tasks to assess safety and well-being of children.

This role requires a valid driver’s license, strong communication, trauma-informed practice, and the ability to engage with families using a strength-based approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or human services or equivalent experience as described.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record is required.
• Ability to engage with parents and children using a strength-based approach.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Interpersonal and intervention skills to work with families and professionals.
• Understanding trauma and its impact on children and families in welfare systems.
• Light to medium work with lifting up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide visitation coaching for parent/child visitations with practical behavioral techniques.
• Provide transportation for children and parents to visitation and services.
• Conduct case management activities and coordinate services when needed.
• Document interactions and write visitation summaries in the permanency planning record.
• Collaborate with the Permanency Planning team to address crises as needed.
