Job summary

Benzie Shores District Library in Frankfort, MI seeks an experienced Library Director to lead operations, set strategy, and ensure exceptional service to a diverse year‑round and seasonal community.

Reporting to the Library Board, the Director will oversee staff, budget, facilities, technology, and collections, while fostering partnerships with schools, local governments, and community groups to expand programs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Level 1 Professional Librarian Certification from the Library of Michigan preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in library administration, management, or a related leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and financial stewardship for the library.
• Develop and implement services and programs that respond to community needs and reflect the library's mission.
• Manage the library's budget, facilities, technology, collections, and human resources.
• Foster partnerships with the local school district, community organizations, local governments, businesses, and other libraries.
• Promote the library's value through outreach, marketing, advocacy, and public engagement.
