Job summary

Lake Bluff Public Library in Lake Bluff, IL is seeking a confident, dedicated Director to lead the library as a community cornerstone. The role oversees a $1.5 million budget, supports 21 staff members, and serves residents with essential services.

The Director works with an elected seven-member Board and drives strategic initiatives and long-term stability. The successful candidate will guide planning, implement the staff pay scale, and advance priorities while maintaining strong partnerships

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA‑accredited program.
• 7 years of related work and 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in strategic planning and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee high-priority projects including continuing a grant-funded asbestos abatement project; completing the Library’s strategic plan; and fully implementing the Library’s staff pay scale.
• Plan sustainably to support medium- and long-term initiatives and financial stability.
• Collaborate with the Board of Trustees and community partners to maintain high-quality library services.
