Lake Bluff Public Library seeks an Executive Director to lead a 7-member Board in stewarding a $1.5 million budget and a 21-member staff serving 5,800 residents in Lake Bluff, IL. This exempt, full-time role focuses on strategic leadership and community impact.

The successful candidate will finalize the library’s strategic plan, manage high-priority initiatives, and ensure sustainable financial health while guiding staff development and public service excellence.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program is required.
• 7+ years of related work experience and 5+ years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the library through priority projects such as asbestos abatement, completing the strategic plan, and implementing the staff pay scale.
• Develop and sustain financial stability to address community needs and capital requirements of an aging building.
