Job summary

The Cooper Foundation seeks an Executive Director to provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight in Raleigh, NC, with expansion to Atlanta. The ED will work with the Board to fulfill the mission, oversee grants for housing stability, and build strategic partnerships with donors and partners.

The role focuses on fundraising, community engagement, and organizational growth, reporting to the Board and managing with the finance and marketing teams to maximize impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7–10 years of progressively responsible non-profit leadership experience.
• Demonstrated success in non-profit management and fundraising.
• Experience working with and/or reporting to a Board of Directors.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and public speaking skills.
• Proven ability to work with partners, donors and the community.
• Experience with strategic planning and organizational growth.
• Knowledge of grant writing and grant management.
• Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan with the Board and Advisory Board.
• Host at least two Board meetings in person to guide strategy and relationship-building.
• Host four Advisory Board meetings annually for fundraising and events.
• Foster innovation and continuous improvement across organizational functions.
• Establish repeatable processes to enable mission delivery.
• Collaborate with Board on grant funding requests and timely decisions.
• Support Board governance responsibilities and strategic decision-making.
• Provide annual updates on achievements and impact.
• Assist with board recruitment, orientation and development.
• Lead fundraising and volunteer efforts with the Advisory Board.
• Build relationships with donors and partners to grow revenue.
• Represent the organization at events with government officials, funders and community stakeholders.
• Lead marketing and communications efforts to raise awareness and share impact.
• Ensure compliant, sound financial practices with the finance team.
