Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization’s next phase of growth and community impact. You will drive strategic direction, financial stewardship, and strong partnerships with officials, lenders, and nonprofits to expand affordable housing.

The role requires visionary leadership, excellent communication, and a proven ability to unite diverse stakeholders around a shared mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required and must be in a related field.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading organizations through growth, change, and transformation.
• Significant experience in affordable housing, housing development, or related fields.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to summarize data for executive audiences.
• Experience negotiating complex development, land acquisition, financing, partnerships, or business transactions.
• Strong knowledge of affordable housing funding sources, development challenges, and policy trends.
• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build credibility and relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong financial acumen and budget/metrics experience.
• Personal commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of long‑term strategic vision and priorities for Habitat Forsyth.
• Position the organization as a leading voice in affordable housing in Forsyth County and North Carolina.
• Build and sustain relationships with elected officials, housing organizations, developers, lenders, and community stakeholders.
• Serve as primary ambassador and spokesperson for Habitat Forsyth, convening leaders when needed.
• Promote collaborative solutions addressing housing needs for families and vulnerable populations.
• Oversee identification, financing, and development of affordable housing opportunities with leadership.
• Evaluate land acquisition and neighborhood revitalization opportunities with strategic partners.
• Negotiate with developers, lenders, municipalities, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge of housing development, finance, policy trends in NC.
• Guide evolution toward larger-scale projects and expanded community initiatives.
• Sustain a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.
• Lead, coach, and develop staff; improve internal communication and engagement.
• Manage organizational change to strengthen morale and mission alignment.
• Ensure sound financial management and long-term sustainability.
• Oversee budgeting, reporting, risk management, and compliance with finance leadership.
• Support fundraising, donor stewardship, and grant activities with leadership.
