Job summary

Clemson University is seeking a Chair of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Sciences to drive curricular development and strategic leadership for the PCVM. The Chair will lead faculty across teaching, research, and outreach, reporting to the Dean and serving on the college's executive team.

The role oversees budget, personnel planning, and a culture of collaboration to advance the mission of delivering top-tier veterinary education and outcomes.

Qualifications

• The candidate holds a DVM or equivalent degree with faculty experience at the Associate/Professor level or higher.
• Board certification or a PhD is required or preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership in a college of veterinary medicine.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the department's faculty in scholarship and academic teaching for the DVM program.
• Develop and implement the new curriculum for the Professional DVM program.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget and strategic personnel planning.
• Foster collaboration, shared governance, and a cohesive culture across the college.
• Mentor and develop faculty and staff; oversee annual performance reviews.
• Advance strategic planning and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Maintain active engagement in teaching, research, and outreach.
