Job summary

North Carolina A&T State University seeks a Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences to serve as chief executive and academic officer. The Dean will provide leadership for teaching, research, Extension, and operations, ensuring alignment with the land‑grant mission and Preeminence 2030 priorities.

The role oversees a $50.7 million annual budget, drives growth in externally funded research, strengthens doctoral education, supports enrollment, and leads efforts in diversity

Qualifications

• PhD in agriculture, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
• Tenured full professor qualifications.
• At least three years of senior leadership and administrative experience.
• Experience as chief officer or similar senior management role.
• Evidence working with agricultural extension.
• Excellent budget management skills.
• Successful record of fundraising.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience and knowledge of holistic student success, including academic and career development.
• Demonstrated success in extramural research funding, high-quality education and curriculum design.
• Evidence of formal leadership development.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills with ability to work independently and in a team.
• Evidence working across disciplines outside of agriculture and environmental sciences.
• Commitment to student learning and promoting diversity.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for CAES and align with Preeminence 2030 priorities.
• Oversee the College’s academic programs, research portfolio, Extension, and operations.
• Lead budgeting, financial stewardship, and fundraising efforts.
• Cultivate partnerships with industry, government, donors, alumni, and advisory boards.
