Job summary

North Carolina A&T State University is seeking an Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life to provide strategic leadership for housing facilities and residence life, guiding a team of professionals and staff in a large residential operation.

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, this role oversees safety, policy, budget planning and partnerships, with a focus on student success and community standards across on-campus housing.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Counseling, College Student Personnel, or a closely related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in university housing and/or residence life.
• Demonstrated experience in crisis management, emergency response in a college or university setting.
• Exceptional interpersonal communications skills and ability to cultivate strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, develop and manage professional staff.
• Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, political acumen, and discernment during challenging circumstances.
• Strong background in policy development and compliance and knowledge of local, state and federal laws and procedures related to college students (e.g. Title IX, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for housing facilities, residence life services and partnerships.
• Advance housing operations to support student safety, well-being and success.
• Develop policies and oversee budget planning and facilities management.
• Collaborate with campus partners to elevate housing programs and retention strategies.
• Lead a large professional and student staff and ensure service excellence.
