Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation seeks a Community Coordinator to plan, develop, design, conduct outreach, and implement Street Improvement Projects that enhance safety for pedestrians, motorists, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorcyclists as part of Vision Zero.

The role focuses on traffic safety improvements, outreach plans, and collaboration with Community Boards and officials to advance the Bus Action Plan and safer urban streets in New York City.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in community work or related duties, or
  • High school graduation and six years of related experience, or
  • Education/experience equivalent to the above with at least one year experience as described in point 1

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, design, conduct outreach and implement Street Improvement Projects to improve safety for pedestrians, motor vehicles, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorcyclists.
  • Analyze crash data and traffic data to identify high crash locations and design safety improvements.
  • Coordinate project implementation and provide technical assistance to senior staff.
  • Engage in community outreach, including meetings with public officials, Community Boards, and inter-/intra-agency stakeholders.
