Job summary

The City of New York's Transportation Planning and Management Division seeks a Community Coordinator to support Vision Zero initiatives across Manhattan and surrounding boroughs.

You will plan, design, and implement street safety projects, conduct outreach, and work with public officials, Community Boards, and inter-agency partners to improve safety and mobility for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and transit users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or related duties.
• Alternative: high school diploma and six years of related experience.
• Equivalent education/experience with at least one year in the first option.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and design street safety projects to improve pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle safety.
• Conduct outreach, meetings with public officials, Community Boards, and inter-agency stakeholders.
• Scoping and designing safety improvements for high-crash locations and analyzing traffic data.
• Prepare reports, graphics, and maps; coordinate project implementation and field work.
• Provide technical assistance to senior staff and support Vision Zero goals.
