Job summary

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities is seeking an ADL/O&M Instructor to provide instruction across Ohio. You will assess and train clients in indoor and outdoor navigation, ADL skills, and the use of adaptive equipment, travel safely, and support independent living with a focus on serving adults and youth who are visually impaired.

Position requires in-state travel, driving or state vehicle eligibility, and collaboration with agencies and employers to help clients achieve goals and

Qualifications

• Time management, case management, and prioritization skills.
• Understanding of adult and youth learning styles.
• Experience working with individuals of varying backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to analyze participant skills, training needs and limitations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer applications to produce reports.
• Ability to collaborate with a team.

Responsibilities

• Interviews participants to assess needs.
• Conducts performance-based assessments of functioning.
• Recommends adaptive equipment and training levels.
• Delivers professional instructional services (ADL and/or O&M).
• Monitors safety and progress while traveling in home, community or workplace.
• Collaborates with internal and external partners to meet participant goals.
