Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a paraeducator for Woodmont K-8 to support a visually impaired student 1:1 under a certificated teacher. You will help with instruction to improve visual efficiency, modify materials, and assist with equipment.

Duties include implementing IEP goals, handling braille and large print materials, operating braillers and low-vision devices, maintaining records, and collaborating with staff to promote program goals and student independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of paraeducator assessment or college credits preferred.
• Basic spelling, math and grammar proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist 1:1 with a student under teacher guidance.
• Help implement IEP goals and objectives.
• Produce, order and distribute braille, large print and audio materials.
• Operate braillers and low vision equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Keep administrative records and required reports.
• Support program goals and student transitions.
• Provide staff training on equipment usage.
• Assist with daily living skills instruction.
