Job summary

The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance machine learning and computer vision for photovoltaic fleet analysis using satellite and aerial imagery. You will join a multidisciplinary team to develop and validate image-based methods that track PV system changes over time.

Responsibilities include building scalable pipelines, integrating image-derived data with performance datasets, and translating research into reproducible software and publishable

Qualifications

• Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
• Experience with computer vision and/or ML, image segmentation, object detection, change detection.
• Experience with satellite, aerial, remote sensing, or geospatial imagery.
• Experience with large image datasets and parallel/cloud workflows.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, scikit-learn, GDAL/Rasterio, GeoPandas, xarray.

Responsibilities

• Develop computer-vision and ML methods for PV systems from satellite/aerial imagery.
• Detect and characterize changes in PV systems across timepoints.
• Process and analyze large geospatial and PV datasets.
• Integrate image-derived data with PV performance and metadata.
• Build scalable computational workflows for many PV systems and images.
• Develop reproducible software and data-analysis workflows with version control.
• Apply ML to identify changes, anomalies, and trends in PV performance.
• Publish results and present findings at conferences and meetings.
