American University is seeking multiple research assistants to contribute to a project studying the proliferation of solar photovoltaic technology in the Middle East. You will work with 30 cm resolution satellite imagery from 2021 and 2025 over Lebanon and Jordan, focusing on training and validating deep learning models to locate and measure solar panels.

Responsibilities include annotating panel locations on imagery, assisting model training/validation, and teaching online annotation workflows.

Competenze

• Must be enrolled as a student at American University.
• Part-time commitment: 5–8 hours per week.
• Experience with annotating satellite imagery or working with deep learning workflows is desirable.

Mansioni

• Annotate locations and sizes of solar panel arrays in Jordan and Lebanon on high-resolution satellite imagery.
• Assist in training and validation of deep learning models for solar panel location.
• Train others in online annotation workflows.
• Other project tasks as needed.
