Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, seeks a Computer Vision (CV) and Machine Learning (ML) Engineer to join the Navigation and Mapping group within the Guidance and Control Section. You will design and implement image-based mapping and navigation solutions, bridging research and flight software for planetary missions.

You will contribute to Moon and lunar landing projects, advance ML/CV methods, and collaborate with scientists on ROSES opportunities while seeking funding to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Physics, CS, or related field with a minimum of 6 years of experience, a Master's with 4 years, or a Ph.D. with 2 years related experience.
• Extensive understanding and wide application of principles in Machine Learning and Computer Vision
• Proven ability to adapt theoretical ML models to unique CV problems and develop novel training architectures
• Strong software skills in C++ and Python
• Track record of working independently with significant technical latitude to deliver functional capabilities

Responsibilities

• Mapping and map-relative navigation for Moonfall, Skyfall, SOLO
• Collaboration with commercial partners on Artemis/HLS for vision-based solutions to lunar landing
• Application of ML to partner with scientists on ROSES opportunities
