Job summary

Rockford Public School District #205 is seeking a Vision Impaired Building Paraprofessional to assist with educational programs for students with visual impairments. The role works under supervision of the classroom teacher and special education staff, supporting daily activities and individualized instruction.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong oral, written and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom management and instruction, such as providing attention, direction and assistance to students.
• Communicate regularly with the teacher regarding daily plans and observations.
• Tutor individuals and work with small groups.
• Implement teacher-planned activities for individuals and small groups.
• Encourage appropriate behavior and support behavior management programs.
• Observe, record and chart academic and behavioral progress.
• Escort students in building and accompany in regular classrooms as needed.
• Assist with field trips, school events and bus loading/unloading.
• Prepare data and materials for reporting to parents.
