Job summary

Susquehanna International Group, LLP is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to design and build scalable infrastructure for trading platforms on OpenStack. The role focuses on optimizing virtualization environments, tuning network stacks for latency, and creating a next-generation VM platform to replace legacy VMware at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 1-5 years of progressive Linux-based platform experience at scale.
• Familiarity with kernel-level I/O tweaks and tools (sysctl, strace, tcpdump, netstat).
• Hands-on automation experience in Python, required.
• Experience with open-source virtualization (OpenStack, Red Hat OpenShift, kubevirt) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Automate and evolve our library of home-grown tools for bare-metal and VM deployments.
• Tune virtualization environments and network stacks for throughput and latency.

Overview

Susquehanna is looking for a Virtualization Engineer to help design and build infrastructure for our trading platforms on Openstack. You will work closely with other infrastructure engineers and software developers to create scalable systems.

What You'll Do

Automate and Evolve:Contribute to our library of home-grown tools, written primarily inPython and Bash,utilizing tools such asJenkinsto automate bare-metal and virtual server deployments, monitoring, and maintenance, allowing you to focus on performance related issues and projects.

Optimize:Tunevirtualization environmentsfor performance andnetwork stacksfor throughput and latency. Dive deep onroot-cause analysisof systems issues. Anything is fair game if there's impact.

Collaborate:Work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems. Implementscalable solutionsusing SAN and high-speed networks.

Create:Design and implement our next-generation VM platform in Openstack which is slated to replace our 18000 guest VMWare environment.

Monitor:Effectively track and display cluster capacity to ensure optimal performance. Forecast and prepare for increased resource demands. Develop tools that best fit our needs for monitoring and capacity planning.

What we’re looking for

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 1-5 years of progressive experience building Linux based platforms at scale.
