Job summary

Susquehanna is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to design and build infrastructure for trading platforms on OpenStack. You will collaborate with infra and software teams to create scalable systems.

You will automate deployments with Python/Bash, optimize performance, and design a next-gen VM platform to replace legacy VMware infrastructure. Strong OpenStack/OpenShift experience and Jenkins automation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 1–5 years of progressive experience building Linux-based platforms at scale.
• Familiarity with kernel-level and I/O subsystem tweaks and tools (sysctl, strace, tcpdump, netstat).
• Recent hands-on experience with automation in Python.
• In-depth experience with open-source virtualization such as OpenStack, Red Hat OpenShift, kubevirt or similar.

Responsibilities

• Automate and evolve infrastructure using home-grown tools with Python and Bash, leveraging Jenkins for deployments.
• Optimize virtualization environments for performance and network throughput; perform root-cause analyses.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and implement scalable solutions using SAN and high-speed networks.
• Create and design the next-generation VM platform in OpenStack to replace the 18,000-guest VMware environment.
• Monitor cluster capacity and develop tools for monitoring and capacity planning.
